Why choose ILS?
Good support starts with understanding the person, not making assumptions about their disability.
Our Learning Disability Awareness training helps staff build their knowledge, challenge outdated attitudes and understand how their approach can influence a person’s health, wellbeing, choices and quality of life.
The course encourages staff to think about how learning disabilities affect individuals differently and how person-centred support can promote greater choice, dignity, inclusion and independence.
The course is mapped to Care Certificate Standard 9, alongside relevant occupational standards, qualification frameworks, BILD resources and NICE guidance.
Can this course be tailored?
Yes. We can tailor the course around your organisation, the people you support and the situations your staff encounter in practice.
This can include relevant scenarios, communication approaches, policies, procedures and examples from your own service, helping learners connect the training directly to the people they support. We are also able to provide co trainers with lived experience of learning disability.
