The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the Government’s preferred and recommended training programme designed to improve the care, treatment and support provided to autistic people and people with a learning disability.

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training has become the recognised standard for meeting these requirements and is assessed during CQC inspections.

The Oliver McGowan Code of Practice requires providers to ensure staff receive training appropriate to their role and that organisations can evidence compliance through robust training records and workforce planning. Providers should also map staff roles to the appropriate training tier and refresh training at least every three years, or sooner if roles change.
